Canvases -  The canvas can differ greatly in sizes from very small to extremely large. The staples or tacks for the canvas are to be found on the underside of the frame, not on the side as is the usual case. This means that the artist has the possibility to include the edges of the canvas in his artwork and it also means that the canvases can be hung without frames for a contemporary look.

 

 

 

 

Timber - The timber is carefully finished. Each stretcher is made from a single strong piece of wood and all of the softwood timber comes from managed forests. No wedges are included in the frame making and the XL frames are extremely stable and resistant to warping; this is greatly enhanced by strictly controlled moisture content and storage.
 

 

 

Primer & canvas - The frames are stretched with cotton canvas and the primer is a universal primer.  XL canvases are best suited to oil, acrylic which is what our artist uses mainly

Multiple Canvases -  Some examples below. these are simple multiple canvas , sometimes canvases are made up of 8, 12, 16, 20, 25 or even more pieces. this is a great look whether using 2 or 20 pieces. All Multiple canvas usually come with a deep edge for a contemporary look and require no frames (ready to hang).

 

 

 

 

Tips - use templates, Lay each framed picture on paper and cut around them. You can then place the paper cut outs on the wall, by carefully using low tack masking tape. This way you can get the positions right before you damage the wall with nail holes.

Spacers, space apart no more than a couple of inches, although this is entirely depends on your taste. Avoid hanging your new artwork too high. If hanging pictures over a sofa, make sure that they are close enough to retain good visual contact. The pictures will not look so good if they float too far above the level of the mantle or furniture height and back and have a look, If the pictures are visually balanced, by colour and size and provide a central grouping, you are ready to start hanging. Remember to use the templates to mark out where the nails need to go, you can nail through the paper and remove before you hang your picture.

Extra large canvases - XL canvases are made up to approximately 10 or 11 ft high or wide. if larger is required the the overall size is split into two or three depending on the scale of the painting. Stretchers for these large painting are crossed several times for added strength. see example below
